The other thing to remember, and this often gets forgotten, is that when playing a movie, the disc is read at 1x. If you're truly intent on ripping this disc, and you don't care about those other parts, you could use CloneDVD to make a movie only copy and it *may* work. If any part of the disc has an error for any reason (fingerprint, mastering error, extremely bad manufacturing process due to disc pressing being done by the lowest bidding chinese or mexican company, etc), then the rip will fail. When you rip a disc, you're accessing every single part of the disc.main movie, menu, trailers, special features, etc. This is a *VERY* different process than playing part of it. So when you play the main movie, that part of the disc might be ok. The main movie of a disc isn't the only thing on that disc. See, here's the issue and why this topic seems to confuse so many people. I'm not sure I know what you mean by "shouldn't I be able to record it on VLC while it plays". I tried the 'rip video dvd to hardisk', but I am getting this error:Īre there DVD's that AnyDvd can't handle? Video DVD (or CD) label: TRANSFORMERS2_D1_VANILLAįound & removed structural copy protection!įound & removed 7 potential bad sector protections! Size of first Layer: 2002704 sectors (3911 MBytes) I have been trying to copy this dvd for 2 days now.
